Headlong are the UK’s leading touring theatre company, renowned for tackling work that shakes things up (they recently set Midsummer Night’s Dream in the winter snow at The Globe), and entertained the world with Enron the Musical whilst the story was still in the news headlines. Their work is unrivalled, powerful and always, always provocative, with a rich seam of social justice running throughout their work.
They were familiar with my work with National Theatre Wales and I was delighted when they invited me to undertake a project to help set them apart from the traditional West End 5**** pack.
Headlong wanted absolutely to stand for top tier entertainment, but to fill a space that they could own more readily - new, completely unexpected. It was thrilling to get under the skin of the organisation and to work with the utterly inspiring leadership duo of Holly Race-Roughan and Lisa Maguire. New positioning centred on the idea of ‘theatre with the power to move’: a celebration of the company’s commitment to sharing top tier work outside London and to performing work with a strong message - whether it’s comedy, tragedy or something in-between. Look out for them at a theatre near you, you won’t be disappointed.
“Working with Run Jump Fly has been a breath of fresh air. Jo authentically and meticulously explored our organisation’s dreams, mission and values with all our staff and critical stakeholders and has brought this together in a clarifying and galvanising rebrand. We couldn’t be more chuffed.”
